About the Artist
Hello! I’m Gissele, a Creative Director, visual artist, and designer from Manila, Philippines.
As an artist, I have collaborated with brands like Adidas and my paintings have been exhibited in galleries located in the Philippines, Hong Kong, and the USA. My works have been featured in 365 Art Plus Magazine Japan, Campaign Asia, Real Living, and Modern Renaissance Art Magazine.
As an advertising art director, I have worked on projects with several brands like Nestlé, Coca-Cola, Maybelline, Samsung, and Hennessy to name a few. As a designer and creative consultant, I’ve worked with startup businesses owned by local women who want to make their dreams go global.
Art Life
With a degree in Fine Arts major in Advertising Arts, I graduated with honors from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines in 2006. I have been active in the art scene even while I worked for 17+ years as an advertising art director.
My paintings result from years of countless art style experimentations and combining elements I love most. I’ve experimented with paints, different mediums, and textures to get my desired output.
I value the female gaze and seek to reframe the representation of the female figure in art; women done by a woman. As a result, my work depicts figures of women juxtaposed with patterns and floral details that branch out as my subjects open up and bloom. The paintings are a window to their rich inner world. I try to capture their characters, personalities, and expressions in detailed acrylic paintings.
The details are meticulously painted with iridescent paints that give off colors and added dimensions when illuminated.
